Planned Power Outage - Overnight Sept 14-15 - Irrigation Ban

The District of Lillooet has been advised by BC Hydro of a planned overnight power outage required for preventative maintenance on the Seton Powerhouse substation.

Outage Details:

  • Date: Sunday, September 14, 2025 – Monday, September 15, 2025

  • Time: 11:00 PM (Sept 14) – 6:00 AM (Sept 15)

  • Affected Area: Town of Lillooet and surrounding areas

  • Reason: Preventative maintenance inspections to improve long-term system reliability.

Read further details about the outage here.

How to Prepare:

  • Before the outage – Ensure all essential devices are fully charged, have flashlights or battery-powered lights available, and secure back-up options for any medical or mobility equipment that requires power.

  • During the outage – Limit opening refrigerators and freezers to preserve food and use candles safely if necessary.

  • When power returns – Be mindful that appliances, electronics, and heating/cooling systems may all restart at once, which can cause high demand on the system. Consider turning off unnecessary devices before the outage and switching them back on gradually once power is restored.

Important – Water Use During the Outage:
Residents on municipal water are asked to conserve water before, during, and immediately after the outage. Power interruptions can affect water pumping systems, so please:

  • Avoid non-essential water use (such as laundry, dishwashing, or irrigation) during this time.

  • Store an emergency supply of drinking water in advance.

  • Preserve water use until system operations fully stabilize after power is restored.

We thank you for your cooperation and preparedness as this important maintenance work is completed to enhance reliability in our community.
