Open Fire Ban in Effect as of Noon, July 10, 2026

Effective July 10, 2026 at noon, the BC Wildfire Service and Kamloops Fire Centre have prohibited all campfires and open burning across the Kamloops Fire Centre, which includes Lillooet.

This ban stays in effect until October 9, 2026 at noon, or until the order is rescinded.

To report a wildfire, unattended campfire, or open burning violation, call 1 800 663 5555 or *5555 from a cell phone.

Category 1, 2, and 3 fires are now all prohibited. This includes campfires and open burning. Fireworks are also not permitted in the district.

Exceptions:

(a) Open cooking fires in non-combustible containers using only briquettes, charcoal, or CSA-approved propane or natural gas appliances for cooking food

(b) CSA- or ULC-approved portable campfire apparatus with a flame height no greater than 15 centimetres
