Open Burning Starts October 15th, 2025
Open burning is permitted within the District of Lillooet from October 15th until May 14th of 2026 or until further notice.
As per municipal bylaws, all persons must obtain a Burning Permit prior to open burning and must strictly adhere to the regulations and requirements of the bylaw. Burning Permits can be obtained at the District of Lillooet municipal hall reception desk.
Open Burning is for the purpose of burning yard waste materials and or natural vegetation from the property only. Check the District of Lillooet Fire Department Establishment and Fire Prevention Bylaw 2018 No. 461 for a list of materials that are prohibited from being burned.
Burning Permits are not required for campfires. Campfires are defined as being a small confined fire that burns solid material in one pile no larger than 0.5m in height and 0.5m in diameter and is used for recreational purpose for cooking and warmth.
Anyone found in contravention of the District of Lillooet Fire Department Establishment and Fire Prevention Bylaw 2018 No. 461 may be subject to fines and penalties.
