Emergency Preparedness Week is underway in Lillooet

We're partway through Emergency Preparedness Week, and there's still plenty going on.

This year's theme is "In it together," and the week is about practical steps Lillooet residents can take to feel more ready and more connected. Whether you're brand new to thinking about preparedness or you've been at it for years, there's something here for you.

What's coming up

Thursday May 7, 12:00 to 1:00 pm. Getting Ready Together webinar. Join us over your lunch hour for a practical session with BC Wildfire Service on seasonal readiness and FireSmart, CDART on planning for your animals, and our team on grab-and-go kits, Voyent Alert, and BC Services Card setup. There will be time for questions. Can't make it live? Register anyway and we'll send you the recording.

Friday May 8, 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Open house and volunteer appreciation at the fire hall. Come by any time. There will be a BBQ, tours of the new tender, Sparky and Ember, hands-on fire extinguisher practice, kids' games, and information tables from ESS, EOC, the fire department, RCMP, Stl'atl'imx Tribal Police, BC Wildfire Service, the SLRD, and First Nations EPCs. We'll be recognizing our ESS volunteers around 5:00 pm. Bring the family.

While you're here

If you missed the Voyent Alert test on Monday, now's a good time to sign up. It's free, it's how we'll reach you in an emergency, and it takes a few minutes.

Everything is at lillooet.ca/epweek: webinar registration, open house details, household plan templates, kit checklists, and Voyent sign-up.

See you Thursday and Friday.
