Starting January 2023 we will be offering The Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program. Swim for Life is a comprehensive swim lesson program that focuses on the development of fundamental swim strokes and skills for learners of all ages and abilities. Instructors ensure swimmers get lots of in-water practice in every lesson. Swim for Life includes fun, hands on activities that focus on teaching Water Smart Education for the whole family. Lessons that will last a lifetime!

Parent & Tot Program:
Parented levels with completion based on age and participation.

Recommended age: 4 months to 3 years.
$60.00 per set, 8 x 30 minutes lesson set.
Parent & Tot 1- Jelly Fish (4-12 months)
Parent & Tot 2- Goldfish (12-24 months)
Parent & Tot 3- Seahorse (2-3 years)

Preschool Program:
Recommended age: 3-5 years.
$60.00 per set, 
Children progress based on successful completion of skills.
Preschool 1- Octopus
Preschool 2- Crab
Preschool 3- Orca
Preschool 4- Sea Lion
Preschool 5- Narwhal

Next Steps: 
Swimmer 1- for children turning five or six.
Swimmer 2- if the child has completed Preschool 5.

Swimmer Program:
Recommended age: 5-12 years. 

Children progress based on successful completion of skills.
Swimmer 1-2, $60.00 for 8x 30 minute lesson set.
Swimmer 3-6, $60.00 for 8x 30 minute lesson set.
Lesson sets with fewer than 8 lessons will be pro-rated. 

Next Steps:
Canadian Swim Patrol (Rookie, Ranger, Star), Junior Lifeguard Club, or Bronze Star.

Unsure which level to register your child in? Free swimming assessments available during  public swims. Please make an appointment to have your child assessed through the office. Children under 7 must be accompanied into the water by an adult during swim level assessments.


Adult Swim Program:
Recommended age: 15+
Adult 1, 2, & 3.
$60.00 for 8x 30 minute lesson set.

Whether you're just starting out or just want help with your strokes, the Adult swim program is for you no matter what your age! Work with certified instructors to learn to swim or improve your current swimming ability and fitness. You'll develop confidence in the water and smooth, recognizable strokes. You'll be able to set your own goals in consultation with your instructor. Water Smart education is included in all Adult levels.

Private Lessons:

For ages 3+. 

$30/ half hour individual lesson or  $120/5 lessons (plus GST for ages 15+). Add a person for $6.25/lesson or $25/ Set of 5, up to 3 people in a lesson.

Cancellation policy: We require 24 hours notice for  private lesson cancellations or rescheduling. In the event that the instructor needs to cancel you will be rescheduled or receive a refund for the missed lesson. Late arrivals will not receive extra time in their lesson.
We will attempt to place you with the instructor of your choice but it is dependent on staff schedules and availability.


Lifesaving Courses:

Bronze Medallion:

Prerequisite: Age 13 by the last day of the course, ability to swim 200m.

Bronze Cross:

Prerequisite:
Bronze Medallion, need not be current.

National Lifeguard Award- Pool Option

Prerequisites: Bronze Cross, need not be current, Standard First Aid with CPR 'C', recommended to be current for success, AMOA (may be offered concurrently with NL course), 15 years of age by final day of course.

Facility Description

  • 25 metre indoor pool

  • ​6 lanes

  • ​Dry Sauna (under age 16 must be supervised by a parent)

  • ​1 metre diving board​

  • lockers available in changerooms- must bring own lock

  • ​portable handicap lift

Health & Safety Regulations


Supervision of Children:

  • Children age 6 and under must be accompanied into the water by an individual age 16+ and remain within arms reach.

  • Maximum of 3 (three) children age 6 (six) and under to one adult allowed.

Before Entering the Pool:

  • Ensure that you are not ill, including diarrhea, vomiting, open sores, bandages, head colds, discharging ears or noses, or infected eyes

  • Secure all personal items- We recommend bringing your own lock, or leaving valuable items at home as our lockers do not have locks. The Lillooet REC Centre is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

  • Take a cleansing shower before entering the pool and after using the sauna.

  • Wear clean and appropriate bathing clothes

  • Remove outdoor footwear

  • Ensure those not toilet-trained wear a swim diaper

When in the Pool, please:

  • Respect all posted rules and instructions given by lifeguards and staff

  • Adhere to our Code of Conduct

  • Do not run, fight, or engage in activities that may cause injury

  • Do not dive into shallow water - safely dive only in designated area.

  • Do not do flips or back dives from pool deck

  • Do not eat, chew gum or bring glass into the pool area

  • Do not use or be under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants


     

    Swimming Pool COVID-19 Policies:

     

  • Effective April 8, 2022 Pool patrons are no longer required to show proof of vaccination.
  • Changeroom showers and lockers are available. Please be mindful of physical distancing and try to keep your time in the changeroom to a minimum.
  • If you need to speak to a lifeguard please respect the 2 metres physical distancing guideline.
  • Do not spit or blow your nose in the water or on the pool deck.
