About the LFD

The District of Lillooet is located at the confluence of the Fraser River and Seton River, in the northern part of the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District.  Established in the 1900’s the Lillooet Fire Department provides fire services to approximately 1,300 properties with a population of an estimated 2,500 citizens.  The Lillooet Fire Department also provides fire protection to our neighbouring First Nations communities T’it’q’et and Sekw’el’was.  The municipality’s coverage area is shown below in the darker red and the pink area represents our neighbouring First Nations' fire protection areas.

Our municipal boundary covering an area of approximately 30 km², is made up of a complexed configuration of urban and rural development and rugged wildland urban interface areas.  Nestled in this beautiful part of British Columbia brings some challenges in providing fire protection.  The proud men and women of the Lillooet Fire Department are always up for these challenges.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Lillooet Fire Department is to protect the lives and property of our citizens and visitors we serve, by providing prompt and professional services in the event of fire, medical emergencies and disasters or any other event which may threaten the public welfare.

CHIEF’S MESSAGE

“Professionally Staffed By Volunteers”

It is truly an honour to serve the community that I have called home for over forty-nine years.  Since my early days as a firefighter to my current role – serving others is my true passion.  I greatly appreciate and give thanks to the dedication and professionalism that the young men and women of the LFD show whether it is responding to an emergency, training or educating the public, these are truly your community heroes.
In closing I would like to thank our community for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Darren Oike,
