25 Metre Indoor Swimming Pool

Swimming Pool COVID-19 Policies:

  • All pool patrons must report to the office first. Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your swim. Avoid congregating in the lobby and changerooms.
  • Masks must be worn in the lobby, changerooms and hallway. Patrons are to change, walk to the pool deck, and leave their mask on their towel in a cubby. Use the deck shower to rinse before entering the water.
  • When leaving the pool deck patrons will dry their face and put their mask back on to return to the changeroom.
  • Changeroom showers and lockers are available. Please be mindful of physical distancing and try to keep your time in the changeroom to a minimum.
  • Lifeguards will be wearing masks on the pool deck. If you need to speak to a lifeguard please respect the 2 metres physical distancing guideline.
  • There will be no spectators allowed in the lobby unless a parent is required to remain to assist their child (age 7+) before and after their swim.
  • Do not spit or blow your nose in the water or on the pool deck. Snorkels will not be allowed.

Pool Closures/Cancellations:

The REC Centre Main Core and Swimming Pool will be closed December 27, 28, 2021  & January 3, 2022 for stat-in-lieu holidays.
Facility closed on all statutory holidays.

 

Swimming Lessons: 


2021 Red Cross Swim Lesson Changes:

Parent participation will be required for all pre-school levels (Starfish, Duck, Sea Turtle, Sea Otter and up) and Swim Kids 1-3 to assist children in the water. Instructors will be teaching from the pool deck and will only enter the water to demo skills as necessary. Only 1 parent may attend to assist with lessons.
Spectators are not allowed in the pool lobby due to COVID-19 regulations.
For Levels 4+ we ask that parents please leave the pool area during your child's lesson. Exceptions can be made for children over six (6) years who require additional support. Please talk to the Aquatic Supervisor or office staff if you need to stay to support your child.
Parents must wear a mask while in common areas such as the lobby, changerooms and on deck if not participating in swimming.

Unsure which level to register your child in? Free swimming assessments available during  public swims. Please make an appointment to have your child assessed through the office. Children under 7 must be accompanied into the water by an adult during swim level assessments.


Private Lessons:
Not Currently Available.

For ages 3+.
$30/ half hour individual lesson or  $120/5 lessons (plus GST for ages 15+). Add a person for $6.25/lesson or $25/ Set of 5, up to 3 people in a lesson.

Cancellation policy: We require 24 hours notice for lesson cancellations or rescheduling. In the event that the instructor needs to cancel you will be rescheduled or receive a refund for the missed lesson. Late arrivals will not receive extra time in their lesson.
We will attempt to place you with the instructor of your choice but it is dependent on staff schedules and availability.


Lifesaving Courses:
Call the office at 250-256-7527 if you are interested in registering for Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross and/or National Lifeguard training.



Facility Description

  • 25 metre indoor pool

  • ​6 lanes

  • ​Dry Sauna (under age 16 must be supervised by a parent)- currently closed due to Interior Health COVID-19 restrictions 

  • ​1 metre diving board​

  • lockers available in changerooms- must bring own lock

  • ​portable handicap lift

Health & Safety Regulations


Supervision of Children:

  • Children age 6 and under must be accompanied into the water by an individual age 16+ and remain within arms reach.

  • Maximum of 3 (three) children age 6 (six) and under to one adult allowed.

Before Entering the Pool:

  • Ensure that you are not ill, including diarrhea, vomiting, open sores, bandages, head colds, discharging ears or noses, or infected eyes

  • Secure all personal items

  • Take a cleansing shower

  • Wear clean and appropriate bathing clothes

  • Remove outdoor footwear

  • Ensure those not toilet-trained wear a swim diaper

When in the Pool, please:

  • Respect all posted rules and instructions given by lifeguards and staff

  • Adhere to our Code of Conduct

  • Do not run, fight, or engage in activities that may cause injury

  • Do not dive into shallow water - safely dive only in designated area.

  • Do not do flips or back dives from pool deck

  • Do not eat, chew gum or bring glass into the pool area

  • Do not use or be under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants
