Public Notice of Water Mains Flushing and Sewer Main Lines Flushing

April 04, 2022

PUBLIC NOTICE: WATER MAINS FLUSHING TO BEGIN

The District of Lillooet will be starting water main flushing immediately and will continue over the next several weeks.  Flushing will be starting in the Heights and proceed towards the Conway Park area; please watch for future updates.

Water main flushing stirs up sediment in the lines and may cause your water to turn cloudy/dirty for a few hours after flushing. If you notice your water is cloudy/dirty, please run your cold water line until it clears.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this necessary preventative measure might cause.

PUBLIC NOTICE: SEWER MAIN LINES FLUSHING TO BEGIN

The District of Lillooet will be starting to Flush Sewer Main Lines in approximately one month’s time, after Water Mains Flushing is nearing completion and this process will continue intermittently over the following months.  Flushing will be starting in the Heights and proceed towards the Conway Park area; please watch for future updates.
Flushing sewer mains clears and cleans our lines of debris and solids build up using high pressure water and is a necessary annual practice.  For those homes without Back Flow Prevention in place, the pressure occasionally causes air to enter unguarded service lines which can result in gurgling and splashing in your toilet and sinks.  Leaving the toilet lid down while your sewer main line is being flushed may help limit any unwanted splashing.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this necessary preventative measure might cause. Installing back flow prevention is recommended in all buildings and is required for all new plumbing works in order to protect the District's potable water supply.
